Ben has an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University; in his degree he specialised in Metallurgy and Materials Science.

Career to date

Ben entered the profession in 1985 and has worked for us since 1987.

Personal skills

Ben’s enthusiasm for well motivated staff adds value to his role as Chairman of the firm’s Recruitment, Training and CPD Committee.

Sector experience

Ben handles patent applications in the mechanical and electromechanical fields. He advises clients on copyright and design right and registered designs.

Client experience

Ben’s clients include Dynamic Cassette International Ltd and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. He has particular experience in due diligence, oppositions at the EPO and infringement issues.

Notable successes

Ben was recently involved in a matter for a direct client in relation to a US patent. Following negotiations, the client was pleased to sign an agreement from which they received a large up front payment and a guaranteed back licence under the patent.

On a personal note..

Ben enjoys tennis, skiing and choral singing.
