Andrew McGettrickMEng, PhDTechnical AssistantHigher Education Andrew graduated with an MEng (with distinction) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Business Studies from the University of Strathclyde in 2004, and completed a PhD entitled Novel Techniques for Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy and their application in Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Diagnostics at that university in 2007. He was awarded a number of other prizes during his academic study, including the Vodaphone commendation award at the Science Engineering and Technology Awards in December 2006 at the House of Commons. Career to date He joined Withers & Rogers in October 2007, working mostly with Jim Ribeiro. Personal Skills From his PhD research, Andrew is an expert in Tunable Diode Laser Spectroscopy and has an extensive knowledge of solid oxide fuel cell systems. He also has a good working knowledge of semiconductor lasers, analogue electronics and control systems. Having studied a number of business-related modules during his degree, he also has an awareness of the priorities of the commercial sector. Sector Experience In the short time he has been at the firm Andrew has already gained a very wide exposure to new technologies. In the main, he has been involved in working with aerospace design and a variety of technologies produced at universities, including nanotechnology. On a personal note… Andrew is a keen squash player and is currently on the lookout for a new team to join in Bath. He enjoys travelling and, during his undergraduate degree, spent a summer working in a restaurant in Vancouver, Canada.
