Headed by DAVID BANNERMAN, Withers & Rogers’ Life Sciences and Chemistry practice group serves the wide variety of clients researching and developing new products in these areas. These include the research departments and technology transfer companies of a number of British universities, biotechnology and genetics research companies, pharmaceutical companies, horticulturalists developing new plant varieties, veterinary supply companies and a number of chemical clients working in both organic and inorganic areas. We also act for a wide range of universities and companies from all over the world, including those from the US and Japan. We work frequently with university spin out companies.
Members of this group bring appropriate academic and professional experience to the area. First degrees include chemistry, biotechnology, veterinary science and pharmacy. Three members of the team have doctorates covering subjects as diverse as radiation damage to DNA, gene therapy and DNA vaccines, and metallocene-based sensors for barbiturate compounds. We have a good track record in EPO opposition and appeals; and significant experience of analysing patent portfolios for due diligence projects. The group has a wide range of experience which allows us to tailor the expertise of the attorneys we offer to that most appropriate to the needs of the client.
